.. and their ever staring eyes
Now is the time to defend your ground
Destiny will call, to remind us all
Now fly free, so far from here
This life we know will end
In dreams of everlasting pain
The fallen now rise again
As this blog is all about a life’s trouble, I want to pour out my woes to the world this time..
So, let’s get things right: my life sucked.. It wasn’t completely worthless since my mates were always around, keeping me alive by providing kinda “life support”, words of advice and stuff like that.. And they’re also always the ones I can count on whenever life comes in with another hit right into my face..
But honestly, I don’t want to complain about all those troubles) as it simply wouldn’t help.. And so, I just keep asking myself “Who the fuck feels so pissed off that I get knocked down again — just one second after I regain my feet?” Because every single way towards the finish line is full of obstacles somebody put in my way..
I really don’t know where my life’s going to), but I’m still hoping that things will be better — _soon_!
Though, I’m facing a typical German proverb right now:
being right doesn’t necessarily mean that you are
in the right! — Or as a long story:
It was back in April, 2006 when I bought a bunch of brand new hardware — CPU, GPU, RAM and of course a Mainboard along with CPU / GPU coolers. Guys, that thingamajig was pretty good and playing games or working on Firefox V2 was really pure joy!
Though, that joy was interrupted in mid-January, 2008 when my PSU thought “Well, I’ve been here for quite some time, so let’s get out of here!” — Luckily, my PSU’s manufacturer was very kind and provided me with a new PSU just within two weeks!
Unfortunately, the replacement wasn’t enough and so, after a short talk to ABIT’s customer support in the Netherlands, my mainboard was found broken, too.
“Alright, still no problem!”, I thought, because here in Germany, customers get a warranty of 24 months after the purchase. But you surely figured it out already: I had no luck with that.. — and that’s where the bitter story starts..
I’ve sent the mainboard over to my retailer — which I’d like to call “Mr. Evil” within this post — on Thursday afternoon and according to DHL’s “Track & Trace”, the package arrived only one day later, on Friday so to say..
Though, I didn’t receive any e-mail from e-Bug about that until Monday and therefore opened a support-ticket and a couple of hours later got an answer, telling me to wait until next Friday as the package is in their arrival and maybe just not registered yet.
Only one day later, on Tuesday afternoon, the RMA-ticket talked about “damage” and “photos”.. Of course, I’ve requested those “photos” — but it took several days until I finally received them. The quality was almost completely.. well.. “bullshit” might be a suitable word, as the resolution was 640 by 480 pixels with a JPG-compression I would estimate to be level 9..
So, I’ve talked to Mr. Evil again, stating that I was _not_ the one who caused those scratches and that 2 witnesses where right beside me all the time until the package was delivered to the post-office.
Though, Mr. Evil denied any legal effect both witnesses might have and he stated that only an “official expert” could decide when and/or how those scratches were done to my AN8 32X. Furthermore, they claimed to receive a printed version of the statement I received from an ABIT employee as a quote might be changed — that was the point I started to hate Mr. Evil..
Also, I’d like to let you guys know that the person I wrote to and received replies from at Mr. Evil’s support-staff seemed to be pretty aggressive and stubborn in the way the text was written and which words were used.
Fed up with Mr. Evil, I started looking around — and after visiting several shops, I finally returned to one of them:
Nord PC Computersolutions
Back in January’s midmonth, I bought my Gainward GeForce 8800 GTS 512 there and because their prices for my new planned system were pretty good, I chose them once again..
Though, there was a huge problem: at that time, the first day I would have had enough money was about 2 or 3 weeks in the future — but normally, German e-stores don’t allow you to purchase on account.. So, I told Nord PC’s CEO, Mr. Daniel Peters, my whole story and how bad my situation was and he offered me kinda special deal: I would be allowed to purchase on account and to reduce the total price if I did some stuff for the online store — not a very difficult task and they even organized a special type of OCZ Reaper RAM for me: the Enhanced Bandwidth Edition!
So, finally, these are my new components:
- Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5
- AMD Athlon64 X2 6400+ Black Edition
- 2x 1048 MB OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 Enhanced Bandwidth
- Gainward Bliss 8800 GTS 512 MB
- Tagan TG480-U15
- Zalman CNPS 9700 LED
No Phenom, I know.. But my amount of money was quite limited and having a AM2+ socket allows me to upgrade to a Phenom some time later..
Lastly, with regard to Firefox V3, work is still in progress.. But as kinda late “easter egg”, I’ve got something for you guys: the drawing was finished last night, so I’ll now start “porting” it to
Paint.NET and after that is finished, the code-part will be the last thing before the release.. — so stay tuned!
Take care,
Martin..
